{our wedding photo album}

I am so excited to finally have the physical copy of our wedding photo album in my possesion!! I have been working on creating this book for a couple months now- continuously tinkering with different photo choices and layouts.   I chose to use Blurb's photo services for our wedding album because I have always had such a great experience with them (you can see the series of photobooks I made with them as well as a link to a super helpful review in this post).

I chose their biggest format which is 12" by 12" square for our album since I knew that all the photos I would be using would of a high enough quality to handle the huge size of the pages.  Initially I debated keeping with a simple one photo per page layout to really highlight each and every shot, but in the end I wanted to include sooo many photos that this would have been unreasonable.  The book includes a variety of layouts from 1 or 2 photos on a page to 4 photo collages to two full page photo spreads.  I only included two pages of text in the entire book which are our wedding vows that we each wrote and surprised each other with during the ceremony.  Blurb just released a line of thick "pro-line" paper which is 140 point paper which costs extra per page, but worth every single penny.

Our book ended up being about 240 pages since I decided at the last minute to include 80 or so pages at the end of my favorite photobooth shots.  Initially I thought the photobooth pictures should be in a separate book, but there are too many great shots that really capture the feeling and emotion of the party/reception that I couldn't leave them out.

Although the pictures are not as high of quality as they are in the actual printed book, you can see the entire book in digital preview format right here.

**no compensation or sponsorship has been provided to me by Blurb- I really just love their service and quality product!

Here are a few snapshots of our album:

  1. Gorgeous! I love the last couple of pages with the rings and the macaroons. You've inspired me to create my album almost two years later, but it seems like so much work going through all those pictures!!! :)

    1. You got get on it girl! The nice part about the blurb software is you can work on a little then save the project and come back it to it later. I worked on the book a little bit here and there until it was done!

  4. this is SO beautiful. I cannot imagine how overwhelming it must be to look through the pages for the first time. When I saw your instagram pic, I knew there would be a post coming shortly after. I am tucking this idea away for my big (someday) wedding!

    xx!

  5. Where did you get the family crest/cover art done? I love it and really want to incorporate something like this into my wedding!

    1. Hi Ally,

I had the crest custom illustrated by one of the graphic designers at my previous job! While he doesn't really do things like this typically (otherwise i would give you his info!), I am sure you could find a graphic designer/illustrator on craiglist who could create something similar!

  7. This is amazing! I am working on my first blurb photobook now, capturing my new fiance and my first trip to Europe together (where he proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower!). Can't wait to have such a special souvenir :) Thanks for the inspiration!

  8. I would also like to know about the crest on the front! What a sweet way to keep all your favourite shots in one place!

  9. LOVE THIS!! I had no idea (I am def a blurb n00b) you could make a 12 x 12 version! I just ordered mine in standard portrait, maybe I will reorder in the bigger size. Love the crest on the cover!! What program did you use to design it? I wanted to add something graphic to the front of our album but have minimal art and macbook skills so I just ended up downloading a font with hearts in it and using that font for the title.

Seriously love your aesthetic!! That album deserves to be front and center on your coffee table!!

    1. Standard portrait is what we have ordered for our past photobooks in and it is a great size. The 12 by 12 is impressive but MASSIVE!

I actually had the crest custom illustrated by one of the graphic designers at my previous job- I wish I could claim those design skills as my own! ;)

  10. Beautiful and great timing!
I have been looking for somewhere to print my album that would be good quality and not a churn and burn photo book place.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  11. Hi Natalie

Could you tell me, which font you used for the "Croquet" and "Bar" Sign at your wedding? I really love it.

    Thx a lot!

    1. Hi Patricia!

That font is called "Bebas Neau" - you can see more about those signs right here: http://www.mintlovesocialclub.com/2012/07/diy-printed-wedding-signs.html

      Hope that helps!
