This past weekend, I discovered that blood orange season had begun at our local Whole Foods and I immediately picked up a few to test out some different cocktail recipes. The rich color and slight tartness that blood oranges have make them a great cocktail ingredient to experiment with. Obviously the first cocktail I wanted to try with them was a champagne cocktail. This one ended up tasting a little bit like a mimosa and I even tried it with a bit of Chambord poured over top (about 1/2 ounce) which made for a wonderfully sweet addition. Here's the recipe:
