I am headed up to San Francisco for the weekend to celebrate my Mom's birthday and I cannot wait to check out some of the places I missed last time I was up there (check out that itinerary here):
Once we land tonight, we are heading straight to Bar Agricole for drinks with friends -hopefully sitting on this awesome patio-although the weather in San Francisco right now is about 50 degrees at night. I am already eyeing a few of the cocktails on their menu- especially the "Sleepyhead" which has ginger, lime, brandy, sparkling wine and mint.
I could spend hours and hundreds of dollars roaming around in Britex Fabrics. This is by far the nicest and most extensive fabric store in the city and it is right in Union square next door to Chanel! I am hoping to find a unique graphic fabric for some pillows in our bedroom.
My favorite place for ribbon will always be Target Trim in downtown Los Angeles, but I am hoping to find an illusive grey and white striped ribbon I have been endlessly searching for at this cute new neighborhood shop in Laurel Heights.
Miette has a few locations around the city and we will most likely be visiting the patisserie's smaller outpost in the Ferry Building to stock up on some cupcakes and petite pastries for this birthday weekend!
My parents specifically love small unfussy restaurants that are best known for their amazing food and less for their over the top modern decor. My mom chose Firenze by Night for her birthday dinner and after reading the menu and lurking on photos of the food on Yelp- I absolutely cannot wait for dinner on Saturday night!

{some new additions}
Okay I know I said before that three apothecary jars was enough, but I lied. Because actually I think five of them is enough since I have just added two more to our collection! One of the best stands in the Los Angeles flower mart doesn't sell flowers, it actually sells vases and in the past few months they have transitioned into selling almost all apothecary jars- most of which are under 20 bucks- even the HUGE ones. The new ones we purchased were $13 and $14 (the taller one is about 18 inches high). Check out this photo I snapped with my phone of their awesome selection:
I am still not sure if I want to keep the new apothecary jars grouped with the original ones in our entryway or move them somewhere else in our loft. If I keep them with the original jars then I also need to figure out what to fill them with! I could obviously fill them with more faux succulents, but I am afraid that might be a bit much? Perhaps I will throw some succulents in there just until the end of summer and then the holidays will begin giving me plenty of other "filling" options. Ahhh important decisions...
We also just added this awesome match holder and Big Sur candle from Jonathan Adler which were an engagement gift from some good friends of ours. Although the instructions on the match holder say you can strike the matches on the ribbed top of the stand, I think I will instead add a small piece of adhesive and sand paper to the bottom.

{diy wedding weekend}
I spent last weekend as a bridesmaid in my friends, Heather & Josh's, wedding down in Laguna Beach. They held their ceremony and reception at Seven Degrees and they added TONS of beautiful diy details that I wanted to share with you...
The escort cards were placed in envelopes slid onto corks that the couple saved over the past year. The corks were stabilized using small metal kickstands, but you can also use a penny glued onto the bottom.
A close up photo of the bridesmaid bouquet I got to carry which the bride designed filled with dusty miller, pink peonies, white ranunculus and of course, succulents!
Heather allowed all of the bridesmaids to pick out their own shoes in any shade of pink they desired- mine are on the far right.
As part of our bridesmaid gift, all of the ladies received these fabulous grey jersey robes to get ready in. Such a great gift and a wonderful look for "getting ready" photos. The above photo is of myself and fellow bridesmaid/shoe blogger, Ashley. (check out her blog www.pursuitofshoes.com)
Josh and Heather got engaged at Domaine Carneros winery in Napa and for their guest book they got a 6 liter bottle (equivalent to 8 normal sized bottles) of champagne and had all the guests sign their name on the huge bottle in silver paint pens They plan to open the bottle on their five or ten year anniversary.
A few months ago, I helped Heather pick out some pink fabric and charcoal grey lace in downtown Los Angeles and we used it to create these table runners for the head table.
I wish I had more photos to share from the actual ceremony and recption, but we were all having so much fun we forgot to take more photos. I promise to share a few once the happy couple gets the professional shots back!
